125 is just not enough

Thanks for a great video. It's nice seeing small bikes getting good reviews. In Australia here we use Honda NBC110's for mail delivery. This is my job, it is almost entirely conducted off-road, and it is amazing how well these little bikes handle it. I own one of these personally, as well as a CT110. Both are great if you want to jump on something to run to the shops. They do lack the excitement of larger bikes, but I recommend everyone have one of these, or a CBF, in the stable. No matter what other bikes you have, you will find lots of reasons to ride the small bike.

At 72 yrs old, I want to get moderate on/off road motorcycle, and do some adventure travel and you brought up so many good points for me to think about. Good video. Thank you.

Honestly, it s our parents. I grew up with motorcycling being a huge no no, I ve been told repeatedly as a kid that I can take my mind away from motorcycles since everybody knows someone young who lost their lives on one. But now I m starting to look into it again and here in Europe the process of gettin the A1 license costs a lot and it s a long and shitty process of running around with paperwork.

I bought a Tiger 1200 explorer last year and i bloody love it. Comfortable for my knackered 56 year old plasterers body. Heated seats and grips so winter riding is actually fun. Would i take it off road?....hell no! It weighs 260 kilos...that would be mental. But i love the looks, ive done a couple of distance tours in comfort, and it bloody shifts if i want it too. And most important....I dont give shiny shite whether anyone else likes it or not.

Very fun bikes, had something simulair, Yamaha ybr 125. Was a good litle bike but awfull for riding at higher speeds. Ps you shifted far to early... it does 100kmph easy..

In the Philippines, we have the legendary tmx155. Try to get a look at it, they are used as tricycles hauling too .uch loads. And they come in whatever look and use case you want. 😆😁

Motorcycle cost money after you buy it you want saddle bags you want customizing your bike cost a lot because we are always changing our motorcycles

Spot on - I'm 71 and can't ride off-road for days. My worn-out body can't handle it - I often go to Sweden and ride dirt roads, because there you get closer to nature. I sleep in shelters far out in the forest, where I am alone in complete peace. But when it has been hard on the body for many hours on gravel, I need some asphalt with many beautiful turns - so it will be a wonderful mix of everything - I love riding around far away from everything, out in the wilderness ! 😅

Motorcycles won't always produce growth in a person, but for many it does. When I was in my early 20s I felt depressed, direction less, useless, and so on. This is typical for someone that grew up with no father in the home and disconnected parents in general. Motorcycles absolutely helped snap me out of that. I became self reliant and traveled for the first time, met people, made friends, learned how to fix things and so on. It's all very nostalgic for me now. However, I can absolutely see how someone already in a good place isn't going to have some revolutionary breakthrough. If i had to sum it up in as few words as possible I'd say it granted me a sense of agency i did not have before.

As a european, just the license price is now double what I paid for a car license. When I finally reached the age when I was able to barely afford it along with a bike and gear, I also started to require more practicality, so I just bought a car.

All interesting and relevant points! I think a big one in the UK anyway is association of mid life crisis. I was only in early 30s when I got my license and a bike and all those at my work under the age of 25 thought I got divorced. I think that’s an association gen z understandably don’t want to be associated with

I bought my first bike, 1995. Transalp 600 for 2000 euros in my 35year. Now I am almost 39... Cheep bike, cheep maintenance, I am doing all of it myself to learn and have fun. No regrets. I had a fall two days ago. Bent a few things, a few bruises... Still fixing some minor issues... But I will be riding again in a couple of hours... C YA

Interesting philosophical video. My views are as follows: There's a whole enjoyment arch at play when riding motorcycles. We live pretty protected and easy lives at home. By struggling a bit, you create experiences that you would not even know of otherwise. If one's purpose in life is to be pampered and protected (95% of people do this), then by all means they probably won't be driven to this. I think you're willing to suffer a bit, but you feel that the enjoyment could be more. I think that is possibly due to the bike your ride, which is very street centric. First problem is your front wheel which will hit everything head on. Bike is also pretty overloaded, so you will have a tough time and it might feel like you're always fighting against the gravel and the irregular surfaces. So my advice is to upgrade to a 21 inch front wheel and look at your suspension - you may just need a service and better springs for your weight. That might unlock a whole another level of offroad enjoyment for you.

When I bought my two wheeler, I couldn't bring it home on road because it was not registered. So I rented an old VW T5 van, for 50 euros, bought a piece of lumber for 5 euros and made a ramp and brought my bike home from 250km. Well I paid the diesel obviously, but overall, it was easier than modifying a car. Anyway, my car is too small to fit a motorcycle in it. And one more thing: It was first time I drove a van, and as it is in good order, it end up being an interesting and pleasant trip. Since then I am thinking if it wouldn't be fun to buy a used T5 van and turn it into a basic camper.

How does it compare to bikes with 15hp? Like Zontes G1 or Honda CB125R?

So glad to see it's capability. It is manufactured and sold in India as SP125 and costs around Rupees 100000 on road, this roughly converts to 1100 euros. We have a good range of value for money motorcycles here.

You're not going to believe it but u have the exact same set up on my honda cb110 topbox panniers windshield for 10 years now and i have a RE Himalayan too with the exact set up.. mainly bought both for it's cheap parts and economy. anyway good job on the video. Nothing superficial about it. All sense and reality

Funnily enough I toured a CBF125 from the UK to Norway (via France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden) back in 2014. The bike was fantastic and did off road admirably. Great little bikes.

They are made in India too. It's sold under the name of SP125. There are also the 185 cc commuter bikes. Honda is known for its quality. Buy it from India.

I have to agree with most of what you say.... late last year I rode the Ho Chi Minh trail 2 up on a Honda CRF250... The number of times I was passed by the local Loas people riding Honda Wave 110/125, they were quite often 2 up as well.. Honda Wave must be the number 1 ADV bike... Unreal little things.. Here in NZ I have a Aprila ETX150 ..

Its such a cool bike! In Asia where the speeds are low, a 125 feels fast! with more modern countries with higher speeds, I'd personally want about a 250cc to be able to merge safely. Really love the machine, probably a fair bit quicker without the luggage dragging in the air, 1st gear goes pretty good though! light weight = fun!
